Fitting protective equipment

Note: If the grinding disc breaks during operation or the holding fixtures on the protective guard/power tool become damaged, the power tool must be sent to the after-sales service immediately; see the "After-Sales Service and Application Service" section for addresses.

Place the protective guard (6) on the spindle collar. Adjust the position of the protective guard (6) to the requirements of the operation and lock the protective guard (6) with the locking screw (5).

  • Adjust the protective guard (6) such that sparking in the direction of the operator is prevented.

  • For cutting, always use the protective guard for cutting (7) or the protective guard for grinding (6) with a fitted cover for cutting (8).
  • Provide sufficient dust extraction when cutting stone.

The protective guard for cutting (7) is fitted in the same way as the protective guard for grinding (6).

Cover for cutting

Fit the cover for cutting (8) on the protective guard for grinding (6) (see figure A): Swivel the lever back (➊). Attach the cover (8) to the protective guard for grinding (6) (➋). Press the lever firmly into place again on the protective guard (6) (➌).
To remove the cover (see figure B), swivel the lever back (➊). Remove the cover (8) from the protective guard (6) (➋).

The extraction guard for cutting with a cutting guide (24) is fitted in the same way as the protective guard for grinding.

A suitable Bosch dust extractor can be connected to the extraction guard with cutting guide (24). To do so, insert the vacuum hose with dust extraction adapter into the provided receiving connection of the extraction guard.

Note: The friction generated by the dust in the vacuum hose and accessory during extraction causes an electrostatic charge that the user may experience as static discharge (depending on environmental factors and their physiological state). Bosch generally recommends using an anti-static vacuum hose (accessory) to vacuum up fine dust and dry materials.

  • Always fit the hand guard (18) when working with the rubber sanding pad (19) or with the cup brush/conical brush/diamond annular cutter.

Attach the hand guard (18) to the auxiliary handle (4)/(3).

Screw the auxiliary handle (4)/(3) on the right or left of the machine head depending on the working method.

  • Do not operate your power tool without the auxiliary handle (4)/(3).
  • Do not continue to use the power tool if the auxiliary handle (4)/(3) is damaged. Do not make any alterations to the auxiliary handle (4)/(3).

The low-vibration auxiliary handle (3) reduces vibration, enabling the tool to be used safely and more comfortably.
